Many practices are confronted with patients that present with co-occurring
(medical/mental health (addiction) ) disorders. Patients with co-occurring disorders are often untreated and or under treated. Patient with chronic co-morbidity consumes an exorbitant amount of your practice's time and staff hours, resulting in lower patients outcomes and loss in revenue. Medicare reimbursed BHI/CCM services will reduce your loss revenue and in many instances increase your bottom line, resulting in a higher total net revenue for your practice.

Recent data reflects integrating behavioral health care with primary care ( Behavioral Health Integration or "BHI"), is an effective strategy for improving outcomes for millions of Americans who present with mental or behavioral health disorders. As of January 1, 2017, Medicare makes separate payments to physicians and non-physician practitioners, for Behavioral Health Integrated service; which they provide to Medicare beneficiaries, over a calendar month. As of January 2018. Medicare has implemented new CPT codes, for BHI services.
Behavioral Health Integration is a Psychiatric Collaborative Care model, which integrates behavioral health/psychiatric services with primary care service, to facilitate a holistic plan of care.
BHI/Psychiatric Collaborative Care services may occur each calendar month.
BHI codes allow for face to face on site services, as well as provisions for remote psychiatric consultation services and other members of the care team in some incidents.
Collaborative Care Management Services will consist of:
Initial Assessments-administrated on a applicable validating rating scale.
Systemic assessments and monitoring.
Care planning by care team, jointly with beneficiary and routine care plan revisions.
Facilitation and coordination of behavioral health treatment.
Continuous communication with with all members of beneficiaries care team.
According to the Maine Health Access Foundation (MEHAF) for every 10 people in a doctor's office, 7 are seeking care for reasons related to Behavioral Health. Fully Integrated Holistic/Preventative Health is the nexus of quality care and stronger patient outcome.
